Rest assured, Gwendolyn is a serious fishing vessel. Her professional crew is without doubt the best around, eager to pass on their knowledge and help those who want to learn.

As a newcomer, there is nothing we love more than sharing with you the excitement of landing your first big catch. You will revel in the scream of the reel as the fish takes the hook, the on-board action, and best of all… seeing what your catch leap six feet into the air above the wake of the boat.

If you are prepared to listen, we will teach you the basics in no time. Of course, you will then spend a lifetime learning how to hone your fishing skills and practicing new techniques.

The one thing we do guarantee on your first charter is that you will be ready as soon as that first run hits, confident in your own ability. It is your decision on how active a role you want to play, but we will be on hand if the fight gets a little tough.

But fishing on Gwendolyn is never a macho test of brute strength and endurance. Interestingly, many World records in our sport are held by women, and it is not down to luck.

Let us be honest, no man or women will ever out pull a 1000lb marlin. To land such a beautiful fish takes guile, patience and skillful handling. That is not forgetting the skipper’s expert control of Gwendolyn throughout and the experience of the first mate in helping him to help you land these majestic creatures.

You need solid technique, a ‘feeling’ for when to strike, and knowing when to let a fish run.

You are new to the sport so will undoubtedly have reservations. We understand this, but will take the time to explain everything from how the equipment works, to what you can expect during this on-board lifetime adventure. We promise you too, will be hooked.
